NASCAR: AUTO CLUB 500 (2/21)
NASCAR — February 21
AUTO CLUB 500
Fonatana, CA
Jamie McMurray (+1500 at BetUS) was obviously your winner of the Daytona 500, and he has now scored the pole at Fontana, but after that whirlwind week he’s had, it’s probably too much to ask of him to make it two in a row, especially on a track that does not demand restrictor-plate racing. Jimmie Johnson (+300 at BetUS) didn’t even finish the Daytona 500, but he has done badly there the last three seasons, yet still taken home the Sprint Cup. He is hell on wheels at the Auto Club Speedway though, winning 500-mile races here each of the last three years (the Pepsi 500) and always has to be considered a major threat. Matt Kenseth, after an 8th-place finish last week, made move in replacing his crew chief, so Drew Blickensderfer is out and Todd Parrott is in. Kenseth is hoping to get some more spark out of his pit crew, and maybe the timing is right; he has won the Auto Club 500 in three of the last four years, and he is so good here that last year he won this race right after winning Daytona. At +1200 (at BetUS.com) he offers value.
